What Is Public Intake?
Public Intake allows patients to book appointments directly through the MedMe platform — at a time that works for them, without needing to call the pharmacy.
By enabling self-scheduling, pharmacy teams reduce the time spent managing appointment bookings manually, freeing staff to focus on patient care and clinical tasks. Patients benefit from the flexibility to book outside of pharmacy hours, at their own convenience.
This feature is useful for:
Managing seasonal demand (e.g., flu shot clinics)
Offering flexibility across a range of service offerings
Supporting resource and workflow planning
Prioritizing specific appointment types based on capacity
How to Enable or Disable Public Intake
Click the ellipses (three dots) on the left-hand panel.
Select Settings.
Click on the Appointment Types tab.
Choose the Appointment Type that needs to be adjusted.
Under General toggle Enable public intake ON to allow patients to self-schedule.
Please Note: If appointment types are not visible to patients after enabling Public Intake, ensure that calendar availability is correctly set up for these appointment types.
Tip: To save time when managing multiple appointment types, use Batch Update to apply public intake setting changes across all relevant appointment types at once.
Please Note: To confirm if the appointment type is visible or no longer visible to the public, navigate to your booking page (YOUR_BANNER.medmeapp.com/schedule) after logging out of your MedMe account or using an incognito window, then verify the change has been applied successfully.
Important Notes About Public Intake and Waitlist
Warning: If the Waitlist Appointments toggle is enabled for an appointment type, patients will not be able to self-schedule. Instead, they will be added to the waitlist and notified when appointments become available.
