Overview
This article explains how attachments work in MedMe. It covers how pharmacists upload files, how patients submit insurance cards during booking, and how attachments are stored and managed on the patient profile.
Table of Contents
Attachments allow pharmacies to securely store important documents directly on a patient profile in the MedMe system. These files remain accessible for future consultations and administrative workflows.
Common examples include:
Insurance cards (front and back)
Referral documents
Signed consent forms
Lab results
Patient-provided documentation
How to Upload an Attachment to a Patient Profile
Pharmacists can upload documents directly to a patient profile within MedMe.
Steps to Upload an Attachment
Open the Patient Profile in MedMe.
Scroll to the Attachments section.
Click Upload Files.
The computer’s file selection window will open.
Browse the computer and select the file to upload.
Click Open to upload the file to MedMe.
Tip: Multiple files can be uploaded if documentation such as front and back images of an insurance card need to be added
Scanning a Document Before Uploading
If a physical document needs to be uploaded (such as an insurance card or referral), the document can first be scanned using the computer’s connected scanner.
Use the computer’s scanner software or printer scanner to scan the document.
Save the scanned file to the computer (commonly as PDF, JPG, or PNG).
Return to MedMe and select the scanned file using Upload Files.
Warning: If a document was temporarily scanned or saved to the computer desktop, remember to delete the file from the computer after uploading to protect patient privacy and prevent storing patient information outside of the MedMe system.
Categorizing and Labeling Attachments
After selecting a file, MedMe will prompt the user to categorize the upload.
Pharmacists can assign:
A Category (for example Insurance or Other)
A Title to identify the document
For insurance documents, quick labeling options appear:
Insurance – Front
Insurance – Back
These shortcuts help standardize how insurance cards are stored.
Please Note: Using the correct category ensures attachments are organized properly on the patient profile and easier to locate later.
Once the category and title are selected:
Click Upload.
Viewing Attachments on the Patient Profile
After the upload is completed, the attachment will appear in the Attachments section of the patient profile.
The system will display:
File name or title
Category (e.g., Insurance)
Upload date
Insurance Attachments During Patient Self-Scheduling
When a patient completes a booking through the MedMe Booking Portal, they may be prompted to upload insurance information.
The patient intake form can request:
Front of insurance card
Back of insurance card
Once the patient submits the booking, these files are automatically stored as attachments on the patient profile.
They will appear as:
Insurance – Front
Insurance – Back
Reminder: This ensures pharmacists have access to insurance documentation before the consultation begins.
Editing Insurance Information While Viewing Attachments
Pharmacists can review insurance details directly from the attachment.
After opening the attachment:
Select image needed for editing insurance.
Edit insurance while the card is displayed
Update relevant fields such as:
Primary Insurance
Other insurance-related information on the patient profile.
Tip: Keeping the insurance card visible while editing insurance details reduces transcription errors and speeds up patient intake.
Supported File Formats
MedMe supports common document and image formats for attachments, including:
PDF
PNG
JPG / JPEG
Other standard image formats
Please Note: Clear, high-resolution images help ensure insurance information is readable during review.
Troubleshooting
File does not upload
Confirm the file format is supported (PDF, PNG, JPG).
Ensure the file size is not excessively large.
Try uploading the file again.
Attachment not visible on the patient profile
Refresh the patient profile.
Confirm the upload was completed successfully.
Conclusion
Attachments in MedMe allow pharmacies to store key patient documentation directly on the patient profile. Pharmacists can upload files such as insurance cards, consent forms, and PDFs, while patients can also submit insurance images during self-scheduling. Once uploaded, attachments remain accessible for review and can support tasks like verifying insurance details during consultations.
