If you were part of the AI Scribe Beta program and received a Yeti Nano from MedMe, follow these steps to configure the hardware for optimal use as an early adopter. For additional details, refer to Logitech’s Quick Start Guide: Yeti Nano Quick Start Guide.
Step 1: Unbox and Connect the Microphone
Unbox the Yeti Nano: Ensure you have the microphone, USB cable, and desk stand.
Set Up the Microphone:
Rotate the microphone 180 degrees so the Blue logo and headphone volume control face you.
Adjust the angle by loosening the set-screws on the left and right of the base, then tighten them once positioned.
Connect to Your Computer:
Plug the USB cable into the microphone’s USB port (bottom of the device).
Plug the other end into a USB port on your computer.
The headphone volume button will light up, indicating the microphone is powered.
Step 2: Position and Set the Mode for Your Pharmacy Environment
The Yeti Nano is a side-address microphone—speak into the front (Blue logo side), not the top.
Consultation Rooms (Multiple Speakers):
Position: Place the microphone in the center of the table.
Set to Omnidirectional Mode:
Press the pattern selector button on the back of the mic to toggle to omnidirectional (picks up sound from all directions).
This is best for capturing everyone in a group consultation.
Over-the-Counter (Single Speaker, Noisy Area):
Position: Place the microphone on the counter, 1-2 feet from the speaker, with the Blue logo facing them.
Set to Cardioid Mode:
Step 3: Test with AI Scribe
Select the Yeti Microphone:
On Windows: Go to Control Panel > Sound > Recording tab, select Yeti Nano.
On macOS: Go to System Preferences > Sound > Input tab, select Yeti Nano.
Test in AI Scribe:
Open AI Scribe and start a test recording.
In consultation rooms, ensure all voices are picked up (omnidirectional).
Over-the-counter, confirm the speaker’s voice is clear with minimal background noise (cardioid).
Adjust Volume:
Use the volume knob on the front to adjust the microphone's gain if needed.
Step 4: Quick Fixes
No Sound: Check the USB connection, make sure the Yeti Nano is selected in your sound settings, and press the front mute button if the LED is red.
Too Much Noise: Use cardioid mode for busy areas; position closer to the speaker.
